HANCOCK, NY — September 12, 2026 — The Upper Delaware River took center stage in Hancock on Saturday as the 4th Annual Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR) RiverFest brought residents, families, conservation organizations and visitors together at Hancock Town Square for a day celebrating the river and the communities connected by its watershed.
Attendance data recorded at Town Square showed 1,785 visits on September 12, with activity reaching its highest level at 12:00 PM, when 488 visits were recorded during the noon hour.

The core FUDR RiverFest programming ran from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while additional activities at Town Square—including the Greater Hancock Farmers' Market & Craft Fair, live music, food, a local brewery and other community activities—continued through 4:00 PM.
The free, family-friendly festival featured hands-on conservation activities, children's crafts, giveaways and free fly-casting lessons with the Upper Delaware River Guides. FUDR also provided free ice cream. The event was open to all ages and held rain or shine.
Conservation Meets Community
A significant part of RiverFest is giving visitors an opportunity to meet the organizations working to protect the Upper Delaware and its surrounding communities.
This year's participating organizations included the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, National Park Service's Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, Delaware River Basin Commission, Delaware Highlands Conservancy, Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Trout Unlimited Shehawken Chapter, Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership, Pure Catskills, Upper Delaware River Guides Alliance, Fish Whistle Trading Post, Known Grove Books & More, and Friends of the Upper Delaware River.
The Delaware River Basin Commission also included Hancock's RiverFest among the public events it was attending as part of its ongoing outreach surrounding water-resource resilience throughout the Delaware River Basin.
The festival's reach extended beyond local promotion this year. Sullivan Catskills featured the event on its regional calendar, while Inside + Out Upstate NY selected FUDR RiverFest as one of its Editor's Picks for things to do during the September 11–13 weekend.
Celebrating the River That Connects Us
The event reflects FUDR's broader mission to protect and restore the Upper Delaware River watershed while supporting the people, communities and local economies connected to it. The Hancock-based nonprofit describes its work as combining river conservation with community engagement, economic vitality and partnerships throughout the watershed.
This year's location was particularly fitting. Hancock sits at the northern gateway to the Upper Delaware, where the East and West Branches of the Delaware River come together before the river continues south through the Upper Delaware Valley.
RiverFest also demonstrated the value of combining environmental programming with Hancock's existing community activities. Visitors attending the conservation festival could remain at Town Square for the Greater Hancock Farmers' Market & Craft Fair, live music, food and beverages, a petting zoo and other activities continuing through 4:00 PM.
With 1,785 recorded visits and a peak of 488 visits during the noon hour, the 4th Annual FUDR RiverFest provided another strong example of how Hancock Town Square can serve as a regional gathering place for conservation, recreation, education, tourism and community events.
