Free Concerts Bring Musicians from Across the Country to Hancock
HANCOCK, NY — The French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts and French Woods Sports and Arts Center are proud to present the 2026 Classic Band Festival on Saturday, September 5, 2026, featuring two free public performances celebrating live music, community, and the enduring tradition of concert-band performance.

The day's festivities begin with the Ein Prosit French Woods German Band, under the direction of Greg Christensen, performing live at Hancock Town Square.
The community is invited to enjoy an afternoon of music while visiting downtown Hancock and the Greater Hancock Area Farmers' Market & Crafts Fair.

The celebration continues that evening with the French Woods Classic Band Festival, under the direction of Cynthia Johnston Turner, presenting “Cowboys and Clowns” in the auditorium/gymnasium at the French Woods Sports and Arts Center.
The program will showcase musicians who have traveled from across the country — from as far west as Michigan and as far south as Virginia — to gather at French Woods for a celebration of music, community, and the enduring tradition of concert-band performance.

Both performances are free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted.
Complimentary shuttle service from Hancock will be available for those attending the evening concert at French Woods.
The Classic Band Festival provides an opportunity for the Hancock community to welcome talented musicians from throughout the country while enjoying exceptional live music close to home.
Brian Worsdale serves as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts and Artistic Director and Founder of the French Woods Classic Band Festival.
